1978 240D lift pump valves
I removed the lift pump from my 78 240d with the intention of cleaning it up and replacing the suction and pressure valves with the rebuild kit, but what I'm finding isn't consistent with the new bits, or pictures and threads I've found in searches. The valve that goes to the secondary filter looks right (although the original spring is longer than the new one) but the valve and spring going into the lift pump doesn't seem to be there. I have the type of lift pump where the input hose fitting is horizontal to the ground, if that makes sense, and all the pictures (including the EPC picture) show the one with that fitting on the top or bottom. Attached is a picture of what I can see inside the inlet. Was there supposed to be a spring and plastic valve in there as there is in the other types of 616 lift pumps?
