Careful here folks, we have found the forum "snitch"....

The EPA is a federal agency, which enforces federal law. Federal law applies to all 50 states whether they have inspections or not. The EPA says that any tampering, removal, or disabling of federally mandated emissions equipment is a felony crime. EGRs were up and coming back in the 70s when MB designed the 617. The early cars did not have an EGR, that's correct. The thing is, emissions laws can't be retroactive. You don't need to go and install an EGR on your 70s W123, but if your 85 car has an EGR and you remove it, you're guilty. My 84 does not have an EGR but the 85 I had did have one and I left it intact and operational. I'm not going around reporting to the EPA, I'm simply advising people who are unaware that those who advocate for EGR removal are suggesting that a felony be committed. The EGR is a good thing, as is the ADA. If a person ever did get caught with a block off plate, the possibility of several thousands of dollars worth of fines exists. I know I don't need that ticket, and I know you couldn't pay it either.

Your entire post is nonsense. It just goes to prove my point. Members making erroneous suggestions about modifying emissions equipment or injection pumps is very dangerous to new owners who don't know enough to protect themselves from such garbage.
