Kickdown switch question

While tracing down a down-shift problem, I noticed that the wire to the kickdown switch was broken. Also, most of the insulation is cracked and extremely brittle. My thinking is to replace that entire section of wire and wasn't sure of something.

When I pulled on the boot, at the kickdown switch, the wire insulation tried to pull and expose the wire. Not wanting to create more problems, I wanted to find out what type of connection I was dealing with. What kind of connection is there of the wire to the kickdown switch? Is it just a press-fit connector or something else?
