WTB - 81 300SD hood release bracket inside cabin
Guys - found out why it was getting tricky to pull the hood release. The pivot pin on the aluminum bracket (inside cabin) broke off. The handle pull which pulls the hood release cable pivots on this pin . My plastic cover is OK and the cable is ok.
There is no part number but here is a pic - front and back; you can see where the pin broke off. Does anyone have one to sell or can someone pick up one in a junkyard. Thx. |

I had the same problem in my W123 recently, but that bracket is integral with the cable. A new cable solved the problem for me.
EDIT: Looking at the parts for sale section here, I can see that the W126 has a different setup for the hood cable. 2nd EDIT: No... I'm remembering incorrectly. Once again, looking at the parts section here... the W123 uses a separate cable and handle (now that I see that, I remember correctly). But more to the point, I had the same problem, but ended up replacing both parts (my hood cable was worn). Last edited by MagicBus; 01-28-2016 at 03:41 PM. Reason: incorrect info |
