W124 Window Regulator Cable Replacement
'95 E300D. Replaced the rear passenger window regulator last year. A few months later it stopped working. Removed it yesterday to find the steel cable had jumped a pulley and snarled itself into a fur ball on the motor pulley. Motor works fine. I can't see any way to get the kinks/loops out of the cable. Has anyone ever replaced the cable with whatever? Hate to buy a new regulator for just the cable.

I toyed with straightening a kinked cable once. I put a lot of effort into it, but it was wasted time. I ended up getting a pick&pull replacedment.

I have had good luck with an eBay chicom complete motor-regulator. Been working fine for at least 5 years now. IMHO if you get a boneyard unit the plastic parts will be crispy and likely to fail at this age.

Thanks for the advice. Cable does look unrepairable. No boneyards within an hour drive so ordered one on ebay for $40 w 2 year guarantee.
