1949 F4 V8 to Mercedes diesel build thread

1949 F4 V8 to Mercedes diesel build thread - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

This is an interesting thread of swapping a 84 300D 617.952 engine in a 1949 F4 Ford PU.

I stumbled across this searching on how to remove a GP out of a 83 Ford 6.9 Diesel engine.
My BRO in Law bought a 83 F-250 6.9 4 x 4 off CL. Been going through it changing the fluids etc...
Got to the GP`s and #7 turns but will not unscrew etc... So been Googling around to see what to do.
Kind of looks like in the end he will have to pull the Head...hope not.
Some one installed Champion GP`s, and as we all know they are crap.
All the Ford Forums recommend Motorcraft GP`s, made by Beru. Strange they say the Bosh are also crap.

I have to tackle this on my 86 6.9 and don`t look forward to it.

Any way, enjoy this Engine swap, I so far got through the first 3 pages.

MMO soak, PB blaster soak, etc... ya might try spinning the motor over with all other plugs removed... get some serious pressure buildup in there...
