im guessing hitting a house is not as bad as hitting a cow. Still, I'd rather be in w123 for either.

Both her, and my insurance are being very cooperative. I meet with contractors today... thus begins the drama of permits and contracts... fun fun.

That field stone wall or a moat sound like a good idea.

When I buy my last place ever, I'll have both, plus alligators and goats to consume the evidence.

Pigs do even better but you still have to pick the teeth out of the poop.

Glad you were inside and not outside when it happened, John.

Never a dull moment with you VSTECH! Some people actually pay to have a car mounted as if it ran through a roof or wall as a feature. The one I saw on TV was a Ferrari through the ceiling in some big fancy house.

John, so sorry this happened to both.

I am not seeing the window. Pictures are a bit dark and hard to understand, especially architecturally.

Tried finding the video with no luck.

There is a reason prefer not being right at the end of a street, however, this looks like a glancing blow?

So y'all know, the most noise from auto traffic is the tyres. So, a low wall, shrubs, or both really help. Some day will find a source for ocotillo and some day have a 6' living fence (I like privacy and tired of my yard being damaged by children). Driving though that wouldn't stop a vehicle, certainly leave a mark though.

ok, in pic with car, above the car, in front of the fireman's hat you will see the window. if you look to the left of the window, you will see a red shutter and infront of the car, you will see the right shutter... it used to be attached just as close to the window as the left side... so, that's where she hit the house.

BOOM...

If the window is damaged maybe you can squeeze a triple glass thermopane window from the the contractor in the deal. They really reduce transmitted noise through the front of a house and are thermally more efficient.

You could just drive it into position. I installed the triple panes on the front of our house about forty years ago when we built it. There is not a lot of noise generated by traffic and it is not heavy.

Still the reduction of what noise we would have heard seems to be substantial. The speed limit is 80kilometers per hour or about 48 miles per hour out front. We are only a hundred feet or so back from the road.

Other than ambulances and police cars with their warning sirens we hear nothing. Even the occasional tractor trailer units noise does not penetrate.

The all brick front might also help but I am unsure. What I am sure of is when visiting our neighbours. I hear noise transmission from the road in their houses.

This also is a fairly cheap house to heat for its size. Even though it was built at a time of a much lesser code requirement. Time takes it's toll though as right now we are removing the ceramic tile floor in the kitchen and eating area incorporated.

Plus the wife has a list. Next is change out the patio door and figure out a way to modernize the kitchen cabinets substantially without actually replacing them. Even the backsplash is very dated. Then she wants the bathrooms updated.

What a time getting the ceramic bonding mortar off the plywood subfloor.

In a way at this time instead of this place being hit by a vehicle. My wife is generating even more update work than that. She weighs about 150 pounds but is hitting this house harder than a car would.

The triple pane windows do not save me from her occasional background noise either. Here I sit at the computer drinking a coffee when I should be scraping the last of the mortar off.

First you have to break it up with a hammer and then scrape off what you cannot get separated. At least it is ninety percent done.

I mentioned for her to remember at this rate the next guy in your life will have nothing left to do. Actually I agree the place needs updated though.

Pics I remember from when you were disposing of your salvage yard had the house away from traffic. The good news is no one was hurt. Stuff can be replaced or repaired.
