Velour????

Do any one of you guys have a source for velour upholstery to replace mine. All the regular guys have leather or vinyl replacements, but I cannot find Velour/Cloth.

If anyone can help, please reply.

Wow, you have velour? Is it a euro car?

Question

Obviously, velour/cloth seats are about as common as a well-running Chevy, but, hypothetically speaking, if you had the MB-Tex coverings and needed to reupholster the seats, how feasible would it be to convert over to a cloth setup?

Again, just curious...after I get a car, I'll probably go with seat covers in some form as I really dislike leather/vinyl...

Yes, and it is not a euro. Early on (1983-84) when the 190 came out in the US, velour and leather were both options in the US, and, incidently, they were both the same price $880.00. I have heard that with the very early cars (late 1983 but called 84 models) leather was not yet available, and there were an unusual number of velour interior cars. I have never been able to confirm this, but I do have velour, and the PO did pay $880 extra to have the velour interior.

PS. I have a very early 190 (mfg in Nov 1983).

Velour here

I'm in Iraq now, and I've seen tons of different Mercedes models, old and new, and it seems velour was a popular choice on many of the ones sold in the eighties. Most of the newer ones have leather or maybe vinyl, and there are some custom jobs out there. Cloth is an understandable option in hot climates, but is velour the only choice? Seems a little Wayne-Newton for most benz owners tastes, which is probaby why they dropped it along with checkered patterns on the fabric back in the 70s. To each his own.
