Any experience with 240D Air Cleaner Gasket?
Completed the "turbo" intake for a 240D, which is another project in the future with the right 240D engine.
Back to OEM 240D ... Pictured is Jooseppi Luna's intake, 240D NON-EGR type, ready for the air cleaner and hook-up to the Mann-Provent 200 separator. The EGR-type of intake restricted the air because of the orifice size plus it had all sorts of gizmos on it which appear to serve no real purpose for my applications. The intake has an orifice of around 55mm which is slightly smaller than a turbo air orifice. The turbo OD orifice is around 60mm and ID is 57mm (W115 long runner). The air intake scoop is around 50mm, or 10% smaller. The orifice on the air cleaner is even smaller, around 47mm or 15% There is supposed to be a gasket which would mate the air intake 55mm orifice hole to the air cleaner 47mm hole. Does anyone know if that gasket restricts the opening even more???? If so, it does not look like a big deal to remove the inner shroud within the air cleaner and find a C-channel type of gasket to mate the two. That way, you're most likely back to 55mm vs. 47mm or even less. Any info on the gasket would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
