Same bowden cable for 85 300D Kali car and other W123s?

Hello,

I know my 1985 300D Kalicar has a slightly different transmission than the other W123s, but I need a new bowden cable. Does anyone know if the bowden cable is the same across the Federal vs Kalicar and across years? TIA.

There are 2 bowden cables for an 84SD. They have different sized plastic ends where the cable goes into the transmission. PP (Roy who knew his stuff and is missed) was able to look up by VIN. My trans is a 722.303.

I've watched vids that say the bowden can be installed without dropping the pan. Perhaps but I couldn't. Order a trans filter and gasket. Now would be a good time to replace the turbo drain tube gasket. Be sure to order an o-ring for the bowden where it connects to the trans. The O-ring is an uncommon size and not included in my HF o-ringset or any of the stores locally.

Thanks for the tip about the O-ring. I've already got the transmission filter and gasket and since I was planning on changing those I thought I would get the bowden cable replcement out of the way too.

My bowden cable was ruined when I forgot a small washcloth on top of the engine which caught on fire and melted the plastic top end of the cable.

Yes, Phil. Didn't mean to purport Roy's early demise but he's not as apparent on the forums lately.
