I've seen an ad for that before. Not going to lie - I'd drive that. I just wouldn't pay $2400 for the privilege.

Me too. Having a lift would also be great.

I would continue the fabrication and add a rack up top to accommodate the drywall, lumber and piping and such that won't fit in the bed. This would give you good utility and a body that will outlast a sprinter.

Dan, the El Camino concept , as compared to normal pickup trucks like yours, becomes more useful as people get older....and climbing UP into a pickup gets more problematic. Car level in and out with the added carrying capacity is a nice feature.

I do wonder why it looks to have been painted Flat Black... it might really look good with a nice paint job on it...

Mine is pretty close to the ground so old people (like me) can get in and out pretty easily. But I have dropped spindles and ShockWaves (see RideTech) on the front and 2" rear lowering blocks so maybe not practical for a daily driver. Given that it's nothing like legal I don't have to concern myself with such trivia!

I would be worried that it would buckle in the middle if a dip was hit too hard.

In a warm climate, flat black paint is ridiculous. It will cook the inside of a vehicle. Many years ago a friend of mine had primered a van with flat black paint, in N. Carolina, it was a solar oven in the summer.

This car was up about 6 months ago.

If I was going to build a pickup from a car, I'd cut just behind the front doors, use a cab back from a mini truck, fab a frame out the back for the rear suspension and make a "looks like a flat bed but has minimal wheel wells in the bed and fold down sides. "

Welcome to*Ute Ltd - Manufacturers of Tough Aluminum Pick-up Truck Beds

It would look like this but I'd make taller sides and push the wheels up into the deck a bit though.

Seems more like a 'put down' than a 'pick up'

...at least in regards with what you should do with it.

but that doesn't mean it has no usefulness.
