Where do you guys buy your vacuum lines?

I'm looking forward this week to change all the vacuum lines on my 1984 300 turbo diesel. I want to change the transmission vacuum lines and the lines connected to the vcv and the modulator. What kind of vacuum should I buy? What size? Thanks a lot

local auto parts store... just bring a small piece of the old line with you to get a match-up on the size. They’ll have assorted tees and other fittings as well, in case any of your old ones are cracked.

The main thing is : if you can easily remove any vacuum hose, either it's old and bad or you bought one size too large......

Probably not a popular choice but => My local Mercedes dealership parts counter (often not as expensive as you think - the things fit - and sometimes are cheaper than other sources)

Little pvc tube and rubber fittings like that are common parts for large truck air brake systems. That may help get some traction with the local parts store “experts”

Pik'n'pull junk yards, under the carpets back to the trunklock/fuel door they are in usually good condition, if you dont mind mis-matched ID colors.

Post Rubber Bits & Bobs

You should try the Classic Center, they're cheaper than anh Dealer and usually the same price as proper, quality aftermarket parts plus they ship right to your door......

I use this in mine https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009PYDY5K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I ordered 3.5mm and 3mm because I couldn't find for sure what size was needed. I can't remember which one I ended up using. If I still have the bag at home I'll check when I get back this evening. A 5' hose was enough for me to replace all the vacuum connector pieces in my engine bay with a bit left over for later.

I have a fair bit of experience with silicone hoses and none is bad apart from the shiny look .

Pelican Parts sells the blue silicone vacuum hose.....

Sorry it took a few days, but I can confirm 3mm silicone hose is what I've been using on my vacuum system.

Same here. I get the hard plastic lines and I join them with vacuum hose bought from Pelican. Occasionally I collect up good quality 4 ways and 3 ways and stash them in my parts bin.

Recently I bought a 15’ roll of that yellow fuel line for lawnmowers from a Chinese ebay member. Took a month to arrive but it has made great fuel return hose. Pliable yet fuel and heat resistant.

Good idea from these wonderful people
