Am I missing warning lights? '81 300SD
There is a possible warning light strip (maybe 3" long) just below my odometer which looks like it might be for warning lights. Next to it I see the glowplug light and other warning lights (separate from this area) but I do not ever remember anything lighting up in the questioned strip.
Is this just a blank for future use or what? (I was reading the Reiserechner thread and see that he has lights in his.) Thx. Last edited by tyl604; 09-14-2016 at 01:47 PM. |

All the pods for a given model are identical. They may be filled with different instruments, but the pod itself is the same. The warning light strips are replaceable elements, so if your car happens to be a gasser, they slip in a strip that doesn't have the glow plug light. The missing spots are for indicators that may be used with different engines and options.

Thanks for the confirmation. Makes sense.

The middle section is for an outside temp LCD fitted to later cars.

Also note that the Gen1 cars don't get the "monitor" lamps for things like bulb failure, low coolant, low oil level, etc.

Yep. I noticed a lot of indicator lights that do not appear on my Gen 1.
Thx. |
