w116 300sd Front Wheel Bearings and Rotors

1979 300sd (w116)

Replaced the front wheel bearings and got the front rotors turned

Initially, the brake rotors were hard to remove. Couldn't pull them out without using some force.

Reinstalling the rotors was also not easy.

Took some elbow grease to push those rotors into place.

Prior to installing the rotors I made sure to clean the shaft

Just wondering if it's normal that it took so much work to push the rotors with new wheel bearings back into place.

Is there supposed to be some slack or space between the bearing and the shaft or is the wheel bearing supposed to go in with force, grab on to the shaft which then allows the rest of the bearing to turn or spin?

Any advice is greatly appreciated
