I think i finally found the source of my front end clucking.. or am i nuts?

Hi All,

I've posted before about a front end clunk and i really can't seem to locate any noticeable enough play in either front wheel to produce so much clunking. The passenger side front wheel produces a dull clunk over every single road imperfection. Speed doesn't matter, wheel angle does matter, nothing seems to effect it.

Today i noticed that the PO installed some aftermarket shock absorbers and that the part that bolts to the lower control arm has some play in it. When I push the car down and put my hand on the shock i can even feel it and hear a faint clunking.

The pin the goes through the shock and onto the little mount that bolts to the control arm seems to be too small and I can move it around by hand.

Can anyone else tell me if this part should be loose? or pretty tight?

part is circled in red for further clarification in photo below.
