Tom, sorry, rough week and a half...

Seems most call it the warm up regulator. I was actually reading about it before theses posts: Warm up regulator (WUR) Calibration - Mercedes-Benz Forum.

That was a good thread, thank you so very much!

Can't get the brass gear off the shaft. I ended up going with the other end in order to avoid breaking it, however despite a lot of force, still not coming off the shaft. So why then do I not have a working odometer?

I mean, if it was really slipping, then then should come right off, correct?

Able to put a mile on the odometers, so seems everything should be working.

Thank y'all in advance!

So why not slipping by hand?

Gears look good, so what needs to be fixed?

One step forward, two back?

On Wednesday morning, ran out of fuel just as left the driveway. Been having some weirdness with the fuel guage, but something seemed not right on hours the engine ran. Since smelled fuel now and then, decided good time to check and change if need be while little fuel in the tank. Found the rubber line to the filter was leaking.

However, my cellular broke that afternoon so no internet. But, a neighbor and friend loaned me his hotspot Thursday morning and got a surprise when unexpectedly another friend shows up with the hose. In three hours changed all of them, except the suction hose. That meant no funds for a fuel filter, but less than 50,000 miles since "full service" and looks clean, so since no lack in performance, leave until have the bread.

Today changed the sway bar links. What a mess! Talk about loose. I bet going to be able to feel the difference.

Then checked the sphere and good there. I know I had two bags of both sizes of crush washers, but have totally gone missing. Feel stupid forgetting to put that in the order. So didn't mess with the other sphere as figured if one is good, both should.

Now going to see about getting the stuck hood unstuck, another stupid mistake.

Master's Degree Keeping me Away

Wow, this thread is severely in need of updating.

Over the next two months:
Got the hood unstuck
Drove it until Tram sent me an urgent email saying the odd noise was a cracked flex disk.
Looking at this blog: http://mercbenz123.com/, decided to go ahead and pull the driveline. Got the engine all disconnected, meaning radiator, fan, belts, alternator, compressor, on and on, removed and out of the way. What was most amazing was the two socket head bolts for the engine mounts came out without any trouble. Soaked those for two days with SiliKroil and then used a 6" hex (helped to get fully into the socket and have room to maneuver). Whole time during sweeting buckets with anxiety. Once out, did a happy dance telling my friends.

Then, about mid January started two classes, one taught by Addison and the other he was helping with the computer programing for the Applied project, then in about early March, abandoned us. Then my retired Service Dog got severely sick, many times thought was going to loose my sweet Golden, love of my life. Went into a severe depression and only thing was doing was every moment taking care of Ember. Thankfully late April, the advising Professor on the Applied Project started meeting with me everyday to help and teach the program Addison was to. Then last week, my backup vehical took a severe nose dive and so peeved, quit working on the Applied Project and instead going after the better vehical. Can't get to University without getting the Mercedes fixed, so am back at it.

Almost able to remove the engine after spending most of today on her (removing one bolt in the front coupling), just need to disconnect the transmission. However, want to be sure don't mess things up.

Checked my paper F.S.M.s and nothing on removing the transmission. The Hynes just states to simply remove the connectors. However, pulling on them has done nothing.

B.T.W., picked up a vintage, made in the U.S.A. (can't remember the brand and seems the sticker fell off in transport), two ton engine jack for $95 delivered (around here, Harbor Freights going for $200) couple weeks ago. Has 3' foot extensions on the legs and the arm, so can reach about five feet. Need to replace a nut that came out in transport and get chains. Does seem to slowly leak down despite no external leaks, so hopefully will hold. If not, guess have to tear apart and find seals for it.

Any further advice or tips on removing a M110?

Thank y'all in advance!

It's about access and getting rough.

After dinner, came up with the idea to remove the speedometer cable from the top (good thing as not only avoids damage to the lower conection but the grommet needs replacing) and throttle linkage, then drop the transmission down as far as it would go. Then had the access I needed and getting the side electrical connector off was easy.

The rear connector was seized on, but decided since have an entire '79 electrical harness, just get rough. Pop!

Pulled the firewall bushing, it is super loose in some spots and binds in others. Also, there were no shift rod bushings, nothing, so those should be easier with the transmission out, right?

So, all that is left is the junction box I forgot about and fetching the backup vehical so can get the hook I forgot in her.

Feel like am so close and hopefully can get the transmission to the shop tomorrow (last day I have mother's van here). But, if don't, then am sure can find a friend to help.

Thank you for the help, Tom.

As for the dog, Sasha was a stray that showed up here a few months and within a few days had bonded to me and Ember. Since the moment he came in, follows me everywhere. An example, yesterday I was in a playful mood and he followed me around the dining table one and a half times. Ember is has been sick, but he helped her though the relapse. His behaviour had no evolutionary benefit being by her side, oft cuddling despite not being a cuddler, except to go potty or get me and bring me to her when she needed something. If a predator came, what benefit would it be to protect her?

Guess sometimes things are done just because. An extreme example be Post Modernism with excessive applied decoration and function following form. Right?

That is why like the W123 design: a little excess, but over all, simple and functional.

An attempt at levity. I thought perhaps you needed some encouragement.

Yes, pulled the entire driveline for a broken flex disk. Easier and much safer then pulling just the transmission.
