Power Steering fluid leak in 1984 300DT.

I opened up the reservoir and noticed the PS fluid is low. I then see what appears to be PS fluid leaking down onto the top of the motor mount. It appears the leak may be coming from either the PS hose fittings where they attach to the steering gear or further up where the rubber hose attaches to steel hose.

I guess I need to spray some Simple Green degreaser on the hoses to see where the leak is coming from??

Replacing the return line/s is cheap insurance. I've never had a problem with a pressure line (touch zebrano wood).

Try turning the steering shaft w engine idling (builds pressure). I saw a tiny drop form in middle of HP hose. See my post for hose replacement.

Looks like I need to replace the high pressure power steering hose. I'm having difficulty sourcing the hose locally which means I most likely will have to order the hose. Since that means waiting a few days is there any temporary fix I can perform on this hose to at least slow down the leak?

No local hydraulic shop can rebuild your hose?

I WISH. Their is only one that shop advertises they do automotive hoses but in reality they don't do much. I will have to get on the phone in the morning and start dialing and smiling and see if I can find a shop that can make up a hose.

In the meantime, could I slap some duct tape on this to hold the leak temporarily?

Remove the belt until you fix the leak.
