This '83 SD starts easily and idles smoothly from cold. Idle gets shaky as the gauge indicator lifts past 40 and the cabin heater blows warm. This continues until the the gauge indicator goes past 80. Then it idles smoothly. The lightest tocuh of pedal smooths the idle. It's smooth by 850-900 rpm by my estimate of the tach. I can't isolate the shake to an injector. I can turn the rack damper more but then the engine gets sluggish. I've mucked with idle and rack damper adjustment with the engine at operating temp. I could do this when the engine is shakiest but I suspect idle will be close to 1000 at operating temp.

It was fine before I pulled the oil filter housing for a new gasket and oil cooler lines. It's been this way since. Adjusting the valves which were a little tight didn't help starting which can't get easier or idle quality.
