Device Unavailable - Not Sond
I had my 2009 Mercedes Benz E320 Bluetec battery removed for two weeks and now my audio is mute with the message: DEVICE UNAVAILABLE . It changes and play CDs but no sound is coming from speakers. Also when selecting radio AM/FM a message: "device unavailable" is shown on screen. I could't find any help on "troubleshooting" of the "Monitor Manual" for this car.
Many replies suggest to RE-CODE. I called Mercedes Benz in NJ today and they say that this car DOES NOT have code for radio. My navigation system will show me all directions correctly but no voice coming from speakers. Today I called two Mercedes Dealers and using my VIN they could not find radio code o their system. One of them said to remove the radio because the code is on the back of the radio. The other said that the issue can be different and to bring the car to them to be taken care. Couple of replies talk about the module under the rear seat but under my car rear seat has not module at all. It just have a aluminum box in the drive car into the trunk but there are not cables like some photographs. I mechanic told me that this box is the audio module. It is power getting there but not connectors as suggested. What else should I do? Can it be some bad fuse? I don't have the fuse chart for my car E320

Considering this is the 3rd or 4th thread you've started asking the same question, it looks like time to visit the dealer in person. I'd be willing to bet there's some sort of anti-theft system that's activated and I'd be willing to bet further that the dealer could fix it in minutes if you took it in.

Dealer and MB in NJ did not find any code based on car VIN. Yes I post more than one question. I am wanting to see this audio system working again but the dealer is expensive. One of then suggested me to change the entire audio module.

A dealer deals with this issue probably fairly often. If they suggested replacing a module for several thousand dollars before even trying a reset. Makes you really wonder about some dealers integrity.
A couple of classics. Guy had an inoperative sunroof. Dealer quoted something like 6,000 to repair it. Service manager stated their master mechanic had also had a look at it. Guy thought it was over the top. Independent repaired it for 140.00. This made the media. I think he was out to even a score for perhaps the past. He had a concealed camera and a video of the total interaction between him and the service advisor. I was in a lineup at a dealership. A couple of people ahead of me where picking up their cars and paying their bills. The lady in front of me paid a little over five hundred dollars for basically a headlight switch replacement as far as I could determine by listening. This was a long time ago when 500.00 was worth something. I was travelling with my car and after the lady left I talked to the service advisor knowing full well by then I would drive home with the minor problem. There are honest dealers of this brand out there. It is up to you to determine if you are going to find one if ever needed. I always assumed that the majority of their customers knew nothing about cars basically. So they were good material for their clip joints. |

Unavailable Device Working Again
Quote:
First my car does not have that box under the back seat. It has one in the trunk in the driver side and one fuse box on the trunk in the passenger side near of the battery. None of then has that suggested connections to unplug and plug again. After unplugging many of the possible connectors, nothing worked as suggested in many posts. I was going frustrated and almost quitting. My last try was disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. When I did it I heard couple relays clicking as going off. For my happiness after this I reconnect the battery terminal again and my audio system worked again. I try radio, CDs, GPS, and whatever is part of the navigation system and all of them worked properly. I am so thankful for all people that gave their suggestion because I know that they were wanting to help me. Many thanks for all posts. There were people posting even photographs to make my life easy. Thanks
