penetrating oil

jcd:

I keep wd-40 around and use it when it's handy. I think it is primarily a lubricant, penetrating oil second. For serious penetrating work, get some P-B Blaster, available at NAPA and other places. I know a few independent mechanics who recommend it, and it works.

I have heard good things about Kroil, don't know whether it is available off the shelf, never used it.

Brake fluid is actually pretty good penetrating stuff as well, just don't use it anywhere you have paint. I have used it on suspension and brake parts. Keep one of those oilcans filled with it.
