1985 300CD in Aurora U pull and pay

Just went through the Aurora, CO U-pull and pay and spotted a 85 300cd. The car still had brown seats (weathered condition), om617 engine, transmission, injectors, IP, turbo, oil cooler and many other parts. Somebody pulled the transmission pan, and the engine oil pan was scraped up, but it looks like that engine ran before it was wrecked. There wasn't an oil cap so some snow had caused surface rust on the first cam lobe, I put a cap on and lowered the hood.

Tires and windows were gone by the time I got there. Sorry, I will not be pulling parts at request, not going back there for quite awhile. Save that engine!

I hope somebody grabs that engine. They're pretty tough so it's probably OK and it would be a shame to see it turned into a Kia (or 6, 582 blenders or whatever).

I think in areas where the roads aren't salted, these cars last longer and keep their engines, making them pretty desirable. In areas where the roads are salted, the cars just fall apart while the engine is fine, making for somewhat plentiful engines.

I've sold a few OM617's over the past year & a half. None went into Benzes. One went into a rock crawler jeep, one into a pick up truck, one went into a pump and one went into a fork lift. Some folks like them for boats. They are a good useful engine. Its a shame the bodies dissolve in the rust belt.
