Help identifying this device!

Greetings,
I am trying to identify this device. I am assuming it's an electric fuel pump. I have searched for anything that looks like this and I haven't found it. I have looked on a Benz Dealer parts website but it shows the pump and filter grouping. This is from a 1991 350SD behind the right rear wheel obviously where the fuel pump would be.

Thank you,
Kris

Those look like hydraulic lines to me. Have you traced where they go?

Does this 350SD have ASD? Maybe the first US spec SWB 126 with SLS that I've heard of? There isn't a factory electric pump on these cars. No fuel supply or return lines that small either.

I'm guessing that's for the ASD system since there's a wire going to it. The rear SLS system is hydraulic only.

I haven't traced these lines. Yes, this car has ASD.

Thanks for the replies,
Kris

Then two lines route to the tandem power steering/hydraulic accessory pump and the third goes to the differential.

Looks like it has an SLS type accumulator on it too. I'd venture that by now it's bad and at the least needs a nitrogen recharge.
