Power Steering hose for 1995 E300D
My friend has kept this 1995 E300D going for over 300,000 miles with my help and her mechanic out where she lives. Car runs fine, ac works, but the pressure line for power steering hose busted and we can't find one anywhere. The dealer doesn't sell them, pelican doesn't have them.
I have a 1998 E300 turbo diesel with blown trans i'm thinking of parting out. Does that pressure line fit? A hydraulic shop didn't want to touch it. Said they hadn't had luck with them. She's looking at junking it just because she can't find that power steering hose. Anyone have one or know where to get one?

I have replaced the line in my car after a reconditioned hose done from a rural type truck repair shop - cost me 30 dollars in total. I didnt get the super duper amazing unburstable million psi hose they had for farm equipment but regular stuff (max of 3000 psi) - which was like the original according to the owner.
The W210 line wont fit as it has different fittings on either end. (W210 uses banjo fittings for the rack and pinion). You might want to try a line from any other 6 cylinder engine W124 car, they will fit. The part number difference between the 2.5 turbo and the E300D, E320 and 300E is due to the length of the rubber hose in the line. btw - I think if you call pelican they can get the line for you or you can call the classic center, they might be able to locate a new one. (in my experience a regular truck/tractor/hydraulic place can easily repair it)

Try a Parker store, they should be able to fabricate a hose for you if you bring in the original.
You may need to use an adapter or two if they can't supply the correct fittings on the replacement hose itself.

In the same instance I found a good used hose from a gasser 124, same part number.

Post a photo of the end fittings. In my 1984 & 85 300D, they are "field-repairable" which means you can unscrew them from the hose w/ box wrenches and install new rubber hose (use common 2-wire 3000 psig hose). Same deal w/ the SLS hoses. I posted w/ photos a while back.
Yours could be "ferrule crimp" type. For those, you can cut off the ferrules (hacksaw, cut-off wheel, pry w/ pliers). Slickest is to use new ferrules and a crimper, like a Master-Cool one w/ dies, if you can find ferrules that match. Otherwise, try Oeticker stepless ear clamps (ebay), which you can tighten w/ a nail puller, or buy the "correct" tool.

Also, the W124 only needs the 9.5x3mm low-pressure return hose. You should remove the larger hose from this model.

Seems if biopete asks for help, he would check the responses after 4 days. Always wonder about anything asked or advertised "for a friend".
