1996 E300D at 500,000 Km!
Just received this mileage ("kilometerage?") award from the MBUSA Classic Center. Amazing they're still doing this for free!

Congratulations
Yeah,Well... They probably figure that by 500K Kilos they've already got
all of your money they're going to,so the Lil promotional paper is a Bene. PLUS: 1. How many of their customers take self maintenance to your levels? 2. Once Upon a Time it actually meant something as far as Quality Engineering and Quality Controlled Manufacturing... These days, NOTHING, following the Three Pointed Star around made after 2006 Will EVER BE ABLE to qualify for the Award y'all just became the Happy Owners of! 3. "The Best or Nothing" (Who in Mercedes much maligned name sake is in charge of Polishing the Stainless Steel ZERO that Must soon be affixed to Headquarters in Stuttgart?)

I submitted my request for 500k medal back in Sept. It must've gotten lost in the mail. I followed up with an email in Feb and got no reply. I finally re-submitted last week. We'll see if this one goes through.
The most amusing part is that there are so few people at the dealers that know about the high mileage awards...it usually takes going through 2 or 3 people before they find someone who's heard of it...and even then they ask me what they need to do..."just check the odo and sign this form, I'll do the rest"

Mark, have you gotten them for the CDI? I was thinking about it...but somehow just doesn't seem to "fit" with a newer Benz. I'll probably get one at some point.

Amusing indeed
Quote:
Interesting that the application form calls for 312,000 miles as the qualifying number even though 500,000 Km is 310,000+ miles. To be on the safe side, I waited until the car actually passed 312,000 before submitting the form, and included a photo of the odometer. The award took about six weeks, more or less.

Both CDIs and the SD have the 250km badge. You can see two of them if you look carefully. I think ANY Benz looks better with them! Looks like Benson has earned one before your 91
