I'm back in a big way, 1984 300SD with treasure trove in trunk
A friend of mine in the car business called me a few weeks ago about a 1984 300SD at auction in Dallas. He is a partner in a large Ford store as well as a buy here pay here style operation. He is a enthusiast, but doesn't buy classics often.
Initially I wasn't very interested in another old diesel, but the more he talked, the more interested I became. Turquoise, perfect wood and dash. Very nice paint and interior. Rust free and good rubber seals Trunk is full of papers and other stuff. Everything worked. AC, center vents, antenna, cruise. It was traded in at a local Cadillac dealer. Real deal one owner car. Went for a pittance. Petrol Blue-Green metallic (my favorite color), 126 (my favorite chassis). 617 (The Engine). All original inside and out. No evidence of paintwork ever. I had to have it. ![]() ![]() Perfect Zebrano and almost no wear on the button stickers. ![]() Steering wheel ![]() Dash ![]() As if the car wasn't jaw dropping enough for me. What was in the trunk was unbelievable. ![]() Every record since day 1. Right down to the temporary tag and window sticker, European delivery documents every maintenance and repair receipt from new until fall 2014. Even has is own notes pre-purchase comparing with a new Cadillac, and cost analysis of European delivery. Factory brochures for every year spanning 1983-1991. Automotive enthusiast magazines of the era too. 6 extra keys. Repair and parts manuals. Some spare parts. Too many photos to put here, so I made a slide show. 1984 300D Slideshow by tylerh860 | Photobucket Obviously I'm quite pleased with myself.
