W124 parts interchange

I have an 87 300td wagon and am curious about the usability of non-engine parts from a non-diesel w124 wagon. There is a 92 300TE for sale near me with the same color interior (black) as my wagon and am looking for advice on whether to buy for parts. My interior is in pretty good shape, but could use a few pieces, my power locks and cruise control don't work and I am worried about the health of my climate control and SRS, would the 92 be a good parts car for these types of things?

Thanks!

As far as I know W124 diesel and gas wagon parts ( internal or external ) are interchangeable, with the exception of the engine. I would not 'buy' a gas car to harvest the parts, it does not make sense. What I can tell you for sure is that a 190E cruise control would work in your wagon. BTDT. Power lock is easy to fix and the vacuum pump is pretty universal on all MBZ.

The engine, transmission and differential center are different. If the gasser has 4matic, the front suspension will be different. SLS components should work fine, all the interior stuff except for the dash pod instruments will interchange. body parts will interchange. Climate control, lock mechanisms, and cruise are all interchangeable. SRS would be the same.

I've never really understood the idea of a "parts car." i mean, I guess if you got it for really, really cheap (like almost free) it makes some sense, but what you're talking about doing is harvesting 25-year-old (used) parts for your 30-year-old car. Is it really worth it?
