Probably did the longest engine removal
Well, I've been working on my swap of the two w124 300d 2.5s. I'm removing the engine from the mildewed 300D i bought of hogweed with a good trans and engine and swapping it into my white 92 300d with 310k that was really worn out from veggie oil, lack of oil changes, and timing chain stretch and pump timing off about 5 degrees retarded. It loped a lot of white smoke at idle and had no power and no boost.
I've been removing the engines with about an hour or two at night the past week and a half with an injured back and bruised ribs from a bad fall, but I got it done. Never hurt so much. Never removed an engine out of a w124 or any car for that matter, and it's going to be about 1000x easier removing it from the mildewed 300d. Putting it back and remembering the vacuum lines will be a nightmare, or maybe not. I couldn't find my load-leveler anywhere, so I used straps and pull the engine and trans as one assembly out in 15 minutes. Didn't cut the front support or remove the condenser, only the radiator. Thanks to the folks who posted in my last post about engine removal, it was a huge help. I'll take pics of the next removal and installation, the old motor with 300k from the veggie car is going to be rebuilt with new rings and top end and timing chain and go into a CJ Wrangler. The mildewed 300d drivetrain is going into the white 300d so I can have a nice daily driver to restore my w210s.
