How do I stop this from leaking water into my trunk?

During or after rain when the trunk lid is wet, if I open the trunk lid, water drips down A LOT from this area, where I'm pointing to in the photo. Is there someway to stop that? Is it normal to leak from there into my trunk? I highly doubt it. Seems like they would have made a way for the water to drain elsewhere when open.

I even caught a drop forming in the photo to give you a good visual!

Mind you, this area on both left and right of the trunk leak just inside the rear wheel wells and perfectly onto the trunk mat, right where you'd be storing stuff.

Thanks,

Is this leaking behind the seal? Looks like it.

Does the inside of the trunk get wet even when closed.

I am getting some water into the trunk even when closed, though I doubt this is the source of that, but maybe it is.

When the trunk is open, I know the water has to go somewhere but it seems this wouldn't be happening like this, just dripping down onto all your stuff.

... check all the trim pieces... verify the antenna is tight, and... check your rear window seals... it'll likely be the window seals.

Check that the trunk gasket isn't full of debris.Water needs to drain in that channel.

Also check the tail light seals. Often water will leak in somewhere else and condense on/in the trunk lid.

2 holes

you have to examine exact cause of bad drainage
over here lots of folks drill the two 2mm holes in the area
marked with yellow on pic- just to ease evaporation of excessive
moisture in the trunk (w123,w124,w126...)

if you do that,..dont forget to paint protect the holes

cheers

No, it's not evaporation or anything. It's just due to gravity when you open the trunk lid when it's raining or if the hood is still wet after a rain.

It's coming straight down the vertical line in between the black trim and yellow metal of the car only when you lift the lid due to gravity, straight into the trunk.
