W123 Headlight Covers

The headlight covers on my 1984 300D are starting to crack. There are Uro pairs available new for about $125. Has anyone installed them? If they are like some of the other products, I would rather set the bills on fire and not send the money to the Uro people.

Dkr.

I assume you mean the headlight door. I replace mine with the URO version and was more than satisfied and crazy picky. I'm definitely all about OEM or OEM Supplier on many items, headlight doors isn't one of them.

Yeah, tough call. On the cosmetic Uro stuff, basically you'll just have to replace it again in a couple years. I struggled especially to find a driver side one for some reason and had to settle for one that had been in a fire so it's a little wavy. If you're patient you can still find either NOS or good used ones, not cheap though.

Also, door is the stupidest name ever for something that doesn't open and has two giant holes in it.

NOS would be nice. I've bought used cosmetic parts like this and been disappointed. Mine may be in better shape than some of the eBay listings. I bought a used pair for another car at a junkyard that were perfect and one of the posts started to go. Generally what happens is the posts start to loose their integrity and then the unit gets more vibration and starts cracking. IMO, buying used is a waste of money unless it's a garage queen that never gets driven.

Aftermarket ones from Bap Geon , $73 EACH , turn signal lamps ,$25 each, this goes a long way in the looks from the frt end of a w123 ,for under $210 its worth it.
