A/C help for 300SD

I've been having problems with the blower fan. It stops and starts at random. I have found that I could bang below the glovebox and it would start working again but now it barely blows anymore.

I took the panel off and the blower motor seems pretty easy to replace. I'm not much of a mechanic but would appreciate any insite to what I may be getting myself into.
