non SLS 617-95X head turned into a wagon head?

I'd like to tune my wagon's head; is it easily possible to buy a regular non SLS head and then just move my SLS pump over to the sedan/coupe head which doesn't have the SLS installed?
For the w123 617-95X (turbo 5 cylinder)

Nope, no way to install the pump, as there is no provisions for a SLS pump on a head not setup for it from the factory. So you will have to find a head from another wagon, or 300SD that has SLS suspension.

I don't know... no way is drastic.

Both heads have the place for it, so with specs, a machine shop may be able to build an sls pump boss... I have not heard of anyone doing it... but it would be possible...

Can the SLS pump be run from an electric motor? 50W seems about right based on the work done to raise the back end a couple inches in 10 seconds.

Y50 High-speed Brushed DC Motor 50W 12V 1650r/min Rated Current 6A

You could run a prox switch to the SLS valve so that the motor would run when the fill port opened.

You could even use a push button in the dash if you didn't want to run a prox switch or if the duty the switch sees is too severe. If the SLS pump is cam driven or driven at cam RPM the 1300 working rpm of the motor is about right, otherwise, use belts or gears. You could mount both to an accessory plate on the engine.

Member Adriel was scrapping a 300TD IDK if the head is gone or not.

Swap out the power steering pump with the one that also has the sls pump integrated into it. But if you are tuning your wagon head why not reinstall the tuned head? What is it you are planning to do to tune the head anyways?

This ^^^.

I've compared both heads and I think it is possible to machine a boss into the head and then fabricate a bolt on adapter base to mount the pump with custom gaskets. If you don't have the specs, you can measure them off your bare wagon head or a junked cracked one.

If you go forward with this project, it would be cool to see how it would be accomplished.
