How's this for a cob job?

Curious what other forum members have done about those awful tiny plastic tabs on their W210 airboxes. A little wood and some jb-weld seems to have done the trick for now, will have to cobble up a less temporary fix when the wood rots out

You can melt ABS plastic by soaking it in acetone. I cut the plastic into small pieces and continue to add the bits to the mix until it becomes quite thick. When it is thin it can be used as a glue.

When it thickens it can be poured into molds and formed to produce replacement parts which will glue onto any ABS materials. The surfaces which are glued together must be cleaned with acetone or sanded to remove any contaminates.

I have used this method to replace the clips on the back of door panels and several other panels on my w126 project.

To determine if the plastic is ABS you can rub a spot on the back of the plastic with acetone. It the plastic starts to 'melt,' and smear it is ABS.

I doubt it, even the 606 N/A airbox is different from the 606 turbo airbox. The bottom half is the same, but top half is different.

If its the clips that are broken, they are common to all of the MB airboxes of that era and can be swapped. If its the box itself, I've had success repairing them with Gorilla Glue.

The part that is broken is the actual airbox lid (the upper half). The clips are all fine, but the lid has thin plastic protrusions that the clips interface with which have become brittle and some have broken. One of the clips would no longer stay closed because there wasn't enough material for the cam closure to rest on. The others were in danger of meeting a similar fate.
