This engine does not care when you check it if the oil is on a proper change interval.
2 minutes after engine shut down, after a full night of sitting... it won’t care. The oil will be black as coal minutes after changing the oil, and the dipstick is wide and easily marked. I defy you to see a measurable difference on this motor no matter when you check it, if the motor is off, and the vehicle is parked on a mostly level surface.

Transmission fluid? Now that is critical to check after the vehicle is fully warmed up, with the motor in park, and parked on as close to a level surface as you can find...

Not true for every car. Dry sump engines require the engine to be running to check the oil level. The Mercedes GTS 4.0 engine for example, or any Porsche 911.

there is no need for you to worry about cold or warm
because there isnt much big differences minor difference not a big deal just keep your engine lubricated proper quality oil change your engine will love you and keep your oil level not exacly but just around max , cold or hot it does not matter because slightly above max or slighlty under max will not destroy your engine For me i usually check when cold because im used to check my car fluids every morning old timed habit from my dad

Mount Rotella nearly erupted straight out the tube! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR ANSWERS!!! I think I'm going to find my cold mark after my next oil change, and I'm going to use that as my regular check. I have been using the 10 minute method for a long time now, I'm going to use that on road trips like I always have! Think I'll check my oil 48 seconds after brunch every 2nd Sunday right before high noon. 3 times, just to be accurate.

Anyone with curiosity only does that ONCE! I learned the lesson of checking the oil with the engine stopped when I was 12. We had an old mower that didn't have a lever brake on the handle and I forgot to check the oil before I started it. Rather than stop it and check the level, I opened the cap and turned my face, neck, and chest black! You only do it once and then never forget!
