What would you consider the Holy Grail as mid 80s parts for diesel MBs.

Can you discribe your finds and how you came across them. Everyone likes a good treasure hunt .

Minty dash in the correct color, Euro lights, gauge cluster with no spots, Working OEM power antenna, Minty seats/interior. Door panels that have all the clips. Sun visor clips. Minty wood for the interior. Intact air cleaner bracket...just kidding, we all know those don't exist.

Getrag 717.400 (five speed manual tranny); A real / authentic AMG body kit; manual steering; Euro Bumpers & Euro Lights; Front heated Seats (switches, et cet, but actual heating pads replaced under seats); Complete Towing Set-up with no missing parts; Euro rear headrests.

Had a total 4 five-speeds, each one is an interesting story I guess. Down to 1 now;
AMG Kit -- a long four years, bought pieces here and there like Johnny Cash's song
Manual Steering & lower shaft 369mm -- Larry Bible
Euro Bumpers -- From "ImBroke" delivered from Virginia to Exit 80, Clemson Rd in Columbia, SC
Euro Rear Seat Headrests - around 6 sets over the years. JYs and forum members
Front Heated Seat switches -- CL
Complete Tow Deal - CL
Locking Armrest for front seat (very rare) - CL

I just pulled an OEM Becker for $18 at the local pick your part. I'll be celebrating if it works, and if not I can fix it.

I think I have one in my 1980 W116 300SD.

I also found a 5 speed at one point, which I sold very quickly.

I have found skid plates and tow hitch parts in the wrecking yard before, as well as a manual flywheel for an OM617.

My 300SD has front and rear headrests and seat heaters, as well as manual windows and manual sunroof.

How about this wooden instrument panel?

Or these headlight and foglight screens?

The OP's question:

"What would you consider the Holy Grail as mid 80s parts for diesel MBs."

At this point there does not appear to be anything in the replies that is diesel specific. All of the items could just as well appear in cars powered by gasoline engines.

Ok... 617 manual flywheel.

The rare 617 032 00 01 - 300d, 300td

Or the even rarer 617 032 01 01 - 300gd

Could of or Should have bought the Taxi Dash and 15mm SB but passed them up. Too pricey right now.

I would pull any euro bumpers ,coupes are the one prize I can lay claim too.Euro lights are getting harder to find mint but worn ones always make it home.I like the wagons cross bars ,keeping the luggage in check on any of the 300td chassis ,a must to retrieve . A real nice wish would be a euro cloth interior that screams 70s plaid ,oH Yeah. Never got a glimps of a set but can still wish..I guess to relive the 80s mercedes brand even if its a bit aged now reflects of how you can hold on to a piece of history and have a little fun doing it.

They are from the mid-70's, I've pulled the W115 300D longrunner intake manifolds when I can.
I've pulled 8 to date: sold 5 to STD forum members, installed 1 in 'Desert Rose', 1 is earmarked for 'Stormclould,' and I have 1 spare availlable.

Also from the mid-70's W115 300D, the Peirburg primer pump, I have 3 available.
I've also pull a a few late-70's non-EGR W116 300SD intake and exhaust manifold sets, and have one set available.

Send a PM if you need any of these parts.
