702.4 190D Turbo Trans rebuild
Think I'm going to go ahead and give rebuilding the transmission a try myself. Never messed with one before, and it seems like something I should do at least once. Anyway, does anyone here know if the 190D Turbo 722.4 is any different from the "regular" 722.4 that went in the gas burners and whatnot? Just want to make sure before I buy a rebuild kit that it will actually function.
Thanks,

The only other option for you would be a transmission from a 300D 2.5. The bowden cable is different than the 300D, and you'd need to swap in the correct modulator. Your transmission has five clutch plates in each pack to handle the extra torque of the engine, coupled with the numerically low differential. It's also a first gear start, which may not be the case with all the gasser options. You *might* luck out with a transmission from a 2.6, but I'm not sure.

Ah, so this one is different than the other 722.4 then... Thanks for the info Frank. Gives me some more to think about.
