Euro or (?) Check out this 300d on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1833638311&r=0&t=0

hmm.. now this a 1982 300d (Turbo).. But.. Does anyone notice that it has *manual windows* and *manual climate controls*.. yet it has standard us-spec headlights and bumpers, and i do see the turbo, so it can't be a 240d..... what to you think? I was always under the impression that 300d's came standard with ACC and Power Windows.. could this really be a "special order vehicle" with the power accessories deleted (was that even possible?)??

whadda think =)

Miles

300D turbo sedans were not available in Europe under the 123 body style. Looks like that car is a 240D that had a 300D turbo motor put in.

Perhaps the screws were his attempt at an ecclectic, asymetrical decorating sceme. I wonder why he needs the slide control under the circular vents.. my circulars and all I've seen always open and close by turning the little wheel in the middle of the vent. His might have been made a few months earlier than mine and the slide control actually does something.. or perhaps it's just another whimsical touch to accent those screws.

Nellotare,I have the slides on my 300D they just let cold air in from outside the vehicle.Don't open them if you haven't unblocked your drain holes and its been raining recently.Nothing like a cold spray of water to wake up your passengers!!!
Back to the Ebay 300D shame the wood either side of the steering wheel doesn't match Bear

Interesting about the slide controls. I know on mine if you remove the wood you'll find a slit for putting in slide control and I always wondered about it. Can you open/close the side vents on a 240D?

Somebody bought it - I like the way he said that CarFax prints out the wrong info - there is no doubt that it is a 240D with the 300D engine. The 300D would have a tach instead of the "big" clock.

Auction ended early by seller due to wrong listing information. I did the free carfax report and came back with enough problems to keep me away.

ebay Listed as a 300d
carfax said it's a 240d
carfax also said it's 4.3 v8? Would make a hell of a diesel

Actually if you look at the Bid History, all of the bids were either retracted by the bidders or cancelled by the seller. It is possible that he sold it off the lot at retail.
I kinda like the idea of a turbo5 with the manual AC, but after the "wood screws" deal, who knows what else was neglected or "rigged"? Maybe the AC is charged with LP gas or propane... Still I am tempted to check the thing out. This place is only about an hour away from me, and they do have a pretty nice 1985 300CD coupe... someone stop me, please ... My problem is that I like most Mercedes that I see...
