S124 E300 barn find..
In a bit of a quandary as to what to do, recently dropped an ebayer a message asking about various parts - long story short he has a 1996 S124 E300 with 74k on the clock, in fact he has two although the other one is a bit leggy with 200k plus miles,
Ended up chatting with chap on phone, both cars belonged to his dad who has now moved on to newer vehicles - the car in question (red) has been off the road since 2010, in fact out car licensing system has no record of the vehicle other than it exists. Owner sent a video of engine running which looks fine. he has basically offered to help (need to confirm) swap out my engine and transmission along with ancillary bits and bobs for 500GBP or take the whole car. It did have sumptuous black unmarked leather but this has since been sold so will need a trailer. trying to figure out if this makes sense, my box is not great with 2nd hard shifts, starter is questionable as is the rad. The other issue is injection pump, may have had water in at some stage so needs an overhaul. What's stopping me.. well, cost wise already spent quite a bit some of which I can get back from part sales - do i push the boat out and buy yet another donor car, this will be the third?
