ATF won't damage this transmission. I ran ATF in my 84 Bronco 2 for 50,000 miles + until the body finally rusted away. The early Bronco 2 uses the same Toyo Kogo transmission as the Mazda.

Many manual trans went to ATF as gear oil just causes drag / loss of fuel economy.

The other question is, why did you have the transmission oil changed?
