Mercedes batteries have no warranty...

2 year old battery got weak, charged it up, and it stays around 11.4v
Took it back to MB THEY OFFERED TO SELL ME A REPLACEMENT 190...

I am a big customer with them, but no avail...

I will get mine at Walmart now.

The new gel cel H7 battery looks great, 3 year free replacement, 5 year pro rate... 169

I think the warranty is either 12 or 24 months for all MB parts. I do think it's better to get batteries elsewhere because they are cheaper and have warranties that are worth a damn. AGM is the way to go now.

That's a real shame...
I use the white MB battery in my 240 and it's just celebrated its 9th birthday.
No sign of relenting yet.

*I should add, my plan was to replace it with the same.

The warranty on Mercedes batteries is two years, so you must have been just outside the warranty period. Some batteries have better warranties. I think that in general Mercedes batteries are superior and last longer than other brands (proprietary silver nitrate made by Varta), but if one DOES fail outside of two years, then you're out of luck. Another brand of battery might not last as long, but it may have a warranty over twice as long as a Mercedes battery, so if it fails you have a longer period of time in which you can get a replacement.

Same here. Batteries can last a LONG time on these old, minimal electronic draw vehicles...

I got 9 years on my last autocraft gold from Advance Auto. We replaced it with their AGM equivalent for about $133 all in!:

New AGM H8 battery for W124 E300 for $133 all in!

These are made in Germany and I'm convinced they are same maker as MB OEM

I bought a Mercedes battery for my car (a '98 e300 diesel) 3 and a half years ago. It was made in Mexico. It otherwise looks identical to the one I took out, which had been in the car for 9 years.

I paid $170 for mine, which was less than prices quoted by Sears, Advance Auto, and Auto Zone.

Walmart plays games with the pro-rata warranty. They don't use straight-line depreciation. The last time I dealt with them, my battery was about 70% through the pro rate period. They claimed the remaining value was only $1.39. They could not explain the calculation, just said "That's what the computer says." And then they could not sell me a replacement battery, even though it was on the shelf. The computer showed it had not been entered into stock. And that task could only be completed by the night shift, so I would have to come back the next day.

$1.39!

You can get about 26 cents PER POUND for lead batteries around here when scrapping them....for a 60+lb Group 49 that's roughly $16!

John was that out of my old wagon? I bought it in December 2016 at the MB dealer in Columbia. I still have the receipt if that helps.

If the battery only had a 24 month warranty, that ran out December 2018.

Sometimes if there is no proof of purchase they go off the manufacture date on the battery. Having the proof of purchase may give some consideration. Maybe not. Just putting that out there for John if he wants it.

The Autozone Platinum batteries are pretty good, those seem like the best deal for good quality right now.

WALMART????

You'd be a fool to buy one at Walmart. Watch Kent's video on YouTube about batteries for Mercedes. He bought one from Walmart and found out that the cheaper ones like that can't recover from a deep discharge like when you're replacing your fuel filter and it has to crank a lot.

He also recommends the Ctek battery charger to refurb batteries.

Most people with Bosch or MB batteries get a minimum of 8 years out of them. What did you do to get only TWO???
