That 210 was otherwise a great car.
Why mess with a rust prone car (w210) if it already has rust? There are plenty of w124 and w211s out there that are cheap and hold up better against rust. Once a vehicle starts rusting, it is like a sand castle next to the sea.

W210s are not safe if they are rusty, the front spring perches can snap off, along with the ends of the lower control arms. I had one for a while and got more like 22-27 mpg, it was mostly reliable but it leaked fuel from various places the whole time I had it, and with 280k miles the transmission was just about worn out, the steering rack was leaking, the suspension needed a full rebuild and and when the $550 egr tube cracked (that had to be kept stock because California) I decided to sell it. If you could get it for $1200 that's not a bad price for just the engine, but buy a better one if you want to drive it.

Here is the car in question.

What do you guys think? I got some undercarriage pictures and it doesn't look as bad as the doors/fenders do.

that’s hardly even rusty. That’s surface rust nothing a wire wheel and POR15 couldn’t fix. That’s a beautiful car I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

Very nice car and fully loaded.
Treat the rust and tidy it up and then in a year or two blow it over with truck bed liner on maybe the bottom half or do the complete car.

Have the wheels OFF and check them spring perches before you buy.

Otherwise a steal, it also has the extremely durable long lasting old style interior.

Well, big thanks to all who weighed in on it but i ended up passing. I live in Louisiana and given that they didn't want to come down much more on the price, plus being 1700 miles from it made me lose interest. Someone go pick it up from here
