I wouldn’t put them on my 6.4 liter Chrysler, but they’re great on a 64hp Benz.

You have a 240D or a 300D, speed rating is probably not of any meaning to you unless you plan to maintain speeds in excess of 80MPH for extended periods somehow (maybe a really long downhill and a set of earplugs?)

Load Index, if the load rating on a tire is underated for your car a major tire store will probably refuse to install them. Load index of 88 is acceptable for our 240D since it will never be loaded with 5 people and a ton of stuff. I don't know what the GVWR of your car is but the formula is on the web.

Last I looked at UTQG ratings they were kind of arbitrary and in practical use were really kind of meaningless IMO since there were no hard government tested standards when I read it a few years back.

Koop gave you a good answer. I would add that speed ratings are H, R and V. If I remember correctly, it is the rating of the tire to go 1 hour at the rated speed of the tire. There is a cost difference. H I think is good for 80 or 90 mpg for 1 hour. So, good for the 240D. If you plan to do more than that in a 240D good luck. R I think is good for 130 mph to 150 mph for 1 hour. V rated over 150+. That info might have change since the 80's. The standard passenger tires would be H rated.

and these tires are all reasonably priced. I think I'll just get one of these mentioned in this article..too many options, and I'm not AT ALL knowledgeable about car related issues....here's the site and 3 choices

I think any speed rating is fine for the 240D, I'm pretty sure 82mph is top speed in ours and that was an adventure! LOL

Remember to check the tire pressure at least monthly and do it in the morning when there's no sun on the tires and they're cool to the touch .

You'll be wanting at least 35 PSI in each tire .
