metal waterpump bypass pipe

my 85 300d does not have the metal water pump bypass pipe. i thought all 617 engines had this. is mine missing/removed by someone or do some not have this? should i worry? car is not registered yet so i have not driven it to report any problems.

i flushed the system and put a new thermostat, radiator hoses and rebuilt the mono valve followed by refilling with new antifreeze

i am having trouble purging the heater though (no heat) but i have not driven the vehicle so i suspect a drive will finish purging the air

temp idling is fine

electric pump works but i can hear it cavitate after a few seconds

I don't know what the Banjo Bolts and Crush washers cost but I Bought one of those tubes last year and the cost was under $20 (eBay)

If you decide to replace it be sure the treads in the hole are still the right size and are not cross treaded.

from r m european

Part Number: 1152000058
Notes: Also use (Qty.) (2) 915036-005100 Hollow Screws, (4) 007603-008109 Seal Rings
Part fits: 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300TD Base Wagon 123.193 3.0L L5

007603008109 seal ring 3 cents at RM european , I load up on copper and aluminum washers there but you have to seach in shop supplies from the home page. It's nice have various metric size seal washers on hand.
I had a transmission leak for the longest time because some previous mechanic used the wrong size sealing washer on the hard line. Even if it just helps for oil change it's worth it at just a few cents each to have an array of these things.
