(title) I thought I knew how to do it [with channellocks?]. It was years ago when I did. I bought a (300D) 'parts car' a while back, front end collision, the only thing not destroyed was the star. I cut the star off the rest of the grill, takes up less space!!

Whats the trick?

(I pulled the outer part back & rotated it (CCW only?) but then it both sides started to bend out so I stopped.)
