windows, windows, windows...
Since I've owned our car the window switches on the passenger's side have to be pushed repeatedly- click, click, click, before the window responds by going up or down. I've had the switches out and cleaned them thoroughly but to no avail.
Additionally, the driver's side rear window continues to thump-thump-thump even after it reaches the top while the driver's side front window broke over this past weekend: it is making REALLY LOUD clunk-clunk-clunk noises and only crawling up or down, requiring assistance to make it up to the top (and it is slowly falling down). I realize that there is a lot of information available on the subject of windows and regulators but was thinking that someone else may have had these symptoms and give me some guidance. thanks! |

Broken regulator
Sounds like a broken regulator(in one or more places) on the drivers front side...i heard the same noise your describing.
After a couple of day i had to push the window up or down(help it). Then it broke for good. I pulled the regulator and the electric window motor guts out and am waiting for a replacement regulator.Im assuming the motor it self is fine on mine, i'll check it in the morning. Good luck(all my other windows seem fine, a four door '79 240D) Im thinking thats what your problem may be.? |

YOU ARE CORRECT!
I took my door apart and did find the regulator to be broken. Sort of difficult to get to, too. I've ordered one from Performance Products at $90.00 and I'm hoping I don't have to wait on it too long.
Oh, well- at least it's not winter! -shawn |
