Rebuilt 722.315 issue after highway drive
I had my 722.315 trans rebuilt on September 27th, had it installed on the 28th and was driving around by the 29th. Everything seemed to be good, no issues with shifting or any leaks. After adjusting the bowden cable, the car shifted at the correct points and had no issues.
Earlier today I took it on its first highway run. I kept it at 60 mph, except for one instance where I got up to 75 to pass an erratic semi. I kept the speeds down because this is a 240D swap and I still have the old 3.69 rear end in it, so I didn't want to keep the RPMs too high. No tach, but it sounded like I was at about 3500 rpm at 60 mph. No issues on the 70 mile highway run. After I got home and took a quick shower, my girlfriend and I headed out to grab a bite and the car shifts much too early now. It still starts in first, but shifts through all the gears up to fourth within about 2 seconds. Manually shifting the car into L and 2 still works. This trans has fewer than 200 miles on it, and I have a warranty but I don't want to bring it in if I don't need to. The bowden cable adjustment is maxed out, and it seems to have very minimal effect on shifting. After maxing it out, the car now shifts to fourth gear within about 3.5 - 4 seconds. It also now has a much more harsh and more audible clunk into reverse and drive - this didn't happen before either. Any ideas?

Forgot to mention, car is a 1979 240D with a rebuilt OM617.952 + rebuilt 722.315 trans, original 3.69 rear end, 205/70R14 tires. Speedometer is not accurately calibrated, but I had people passing me like I was standing still (SoCal traffic), so 60 mph seems about right. Speedometer was reading between 55 and 60 the entire drive (minus the 75 mph pass).

Possible broken bowden cable or came loose inside trans.
Stuck or broken modulator if have one. Clunk ck flex disc. Trans. problems. All I know good luck. |

Thanks. Will check the flex disc tomorrow, the bowden cable does not seem to be broken or loose - it still has a spring loaded return when I pull the socket end, so it is connected within the trans.
I thought the vacuum modulator controlled shift firmness, not shift timing. I'm not sure how it could have an effect on the shifting, but all the vacuum lines still look good (I checked them visually). Fluid level is good. I am running Lucas ATF, which has the MB compatibility approval. I believe that Mercedes recommends using the fluid with MB 236.9 approval, which this fluid does have. I have no metal flakes on the dipstick. Like I said, trans was not acting strangely at all during the last ~130 miles of city driving. Only after this 70 mile highway drive did I begin experiencing issues.
