Crimped fuel hose/ glow plug earth wire removal

I've been busy upgrading the hoses and clamps in my W115 240d. I've recently found that the very short hose that connects from the primary diesel filter to the fuel pump and the glow plug earth/ ground wire on my OM616 with series glow plugs both have crimp style connections. Anyone removed these?

I'd like to replace the aging hose and swap the glow plugs to parallel.

W123 uses regular hose clamps there so I don't see a need for crimping especially since a hose from the small filter to the pump is under low vacuum.

Chris, I think he is talking about the hoses that have banjo fittings on them. Some confuse the filters and think the spin-on is the primary.

If so, I have replaced both of those hoses on my OM617. No problem, just have copper washer/gaskets on hand.

You can file grind or do what ever is needed to remove the crimped on collar as long as you don't scratch up the surface under the hose.

Concerning the loop filament type glow plugs they cannot be wired in parallel in fact you cannot test a single plug on the batter as the filament/loop burns. They can't take the full 12 volts.

The best choice is to use the pencil adapter glow plugs while they are still around.
And they are wired in what I believe is called series parallel.

Was hoping someone had removed the fuel hose with the crimp end on it. Very different to a W123.

I have those exact glow plugs. Made by Monark I believe. Once fitted, I won't need the earthing cable, which is why I'd like to remove it while I can.

I did it with my oil cooler hoses.

Thanks! Want to make sure once I grind that off, that I'll be able to fit a regular hose with clamp in its place.

The Oil Cooler Hose replacement is more controversial. Made much better if you use the correct 15mm inside diameter hose. And you need to be careful with the clamps.
When I did it I did not have the correct sized and I used 2 clamps on each hose end.
Later when I found a source of real 15mm Oil Cooler Hoses removed my previous job and used that with what I believe are better clamps. There is 2 long threads on the Oil Cooler Hose replacement issue.
