I think you have the same box as mine, 722.435 which was fitted to estates (wagons) - if so, its red/orange colour - not 100% sure but most of the upgrades had already happened by this stage, more on older 123 boxes I think

Are you replacing it for a specific reason? If it's leaking, match the color. It would likely be red. The different colors have different characteristics for different applications, installing a different color modulator in your transmission will NOT be an upgrade.

EPC (chassis 124.191, 722.435) shows that there should be an braun modulator, p-n A 126 270 27 79. And there is also an note that it is interchangeable with A 126 270 93 79.
But FSM shows that there should be an blue modulator.
I think the main thing is modulating pressure which should be 3.0 bar.

Googling these part numbers does indeed show a brown or a sort of "salmon" colored modulator that could easy be identified as "pink".

MB upgraded many of the auto box parts frequently, this was mainly down to customer feedback reporting flares and such.

The modulators were also upgraded due to the internal plastic actuator which had a tendency to expand when hot and/or break.
