Have a problem with the throttle linkage, 82-83 240d.



The pedal arm comes thru the firewall, is attached to a rod about 6-8" long that moves up and down. This connects to a bellcrank assembly which has a rubber block and a rod that goes forward to more linkages. This rod rotates axially. The bellcrank at the rear of the rod (with rubber block) goes into an assembly which has a plastic flange and is bolted to the firewall. This flange is the problem, it is falling out (forward).


What is this assembly called and are they available?

The part you need depends on the chassis number.
The older version of the part can still be purchased new from the forum host, MB dealership, or others.

Unfortunately, I think I have the newer type, which is NLA.


Anyone have any ideas? I located one that is for a 300d but dont know if that will work. The application list on that only indicates 300.

You need to make for sure which one fits your vehicle. There is at least 3 versions.

You can check with peachparts. If they don't have it you at least maybe get the correct part number.

Amazon also sells this sort of stuff. The key is to find the proper part number for your vehicle.

Once in a while I have bought stuff off of UK eBay. The sometimes have stuff that is not available here in the US.

The one for mine in the picture has a plastic ball to the rear of it and that plastic falls apart. Sometimes on them the rubber delaminates. I decided to change mine before it failed.

found the amazon part but nothing on ebay. The one and only place listing it is out of stock. I dislike ebay because generally thier searches produce different results every time. If you could post the link I might be able to find it. Even an amazon search did not find it (one result, OOS), but the link worked.

I mostly buy on eBay and to a lesser extent amazon.

Out here Amazon likes to use fedex. FedEx throws the package at your door step knocks on the Door and runs back to the van and is gone (when they knock I can't even get to the door fast enough to see the Van leaving).

Most of the sellers on ebay use the USPS or to a lesser extent UPS. Both are much better about not leaving a package at the door (I have a sign on my Door; don't leave packages out side).
And if the regular USPS Mail Carrier is working that day She locks the small items in my Mail Box and won't leave Packages outside. UPS is a little iffier but they come after 4 pm.
I have had stuff stolen off of my Porch. If USPS or the other shipping companies say it was delivered at or around the mail box you are not getting your money back on stolen items.
