Car Birthday coming up, The BIG 4OHHHH

1992 w124 300D 2.5turbo is about 300 miles from rolling over 400,000

if the rest of my week unfolds normally i should be sitting right on it by the time i get home friday afternoon.

Shes been a good one. had right at about 230,000 when i picked it up five years ago. Left me stranded one time in that time when when voltage regulator died and i ran the battery out before i realized what was going on.
I all practicality she's still in good shape. i've done numerous restorations over the years so, mechanically, she's very solid. Starting to show her age cosmetically.

The question is what to do next? a while back i made her a promise that i would see her turn over 400k before i would even entertain the idea of getting a new car.

The only thing still running after decades of abuse in Africa are diesel 504’s, OM616’s, and OM602’s. Keep it and fix her up.

Internal combustion cars are becoming obsolete. I’m keeping my 93 as my last fossil fueled car. Trucks are another matter.

The W124 i have is 31 years old in March with still less than 10000 miles on the clock .And for its birthday i am removing the exhaust manifolds to get them sand blasted , and then ceramic coated then replace all of the manifold studs and replace with stainless steel nut and washers . Then next on the list is to change all the audralic tapets to make it sound nice and quiet .
