602 turbo
How long can a 602 turbo sit without any internal damage ? After sitting for around 7 years I installed this engine and started to use it as my daily driver it runs good but it is loud sounds like a Cummings in a Dodge. I had the muffler shop fix the pipe that comes from the turbo but still is loud. Is there anything else I should check ?

Is it a pressure-operated waste gate? Year and model helps. If the waste gate sense line is route, or if the waste gate actuator has a torn diaphragm, you'll get very loud turbo noise and if the overboost switch is still working, you can be down on power as it cuts boost pressure to the ALDA.

The engine it’s off a 91 300D and I think the problem it’s going to be the turbo diaphragm I’m going to check it. The power it’s good l swapped this engine into a 190E and it moves real good and I’m getting around 35 miles per gallon

Vacuum wastegate.
First thing I'd do is measure boost. This is pretty simple. Just tee a pressure gauge off the ALDA feed on the left side of the intake manifold. That will give you a better idea of what is happening. What pipe did the "muffler shop" fix? The crossover pipe? EGR pipe? Oil return? If they messed with the EGR pipe, there may be a leak there. |

This is the Alda feed:

The front exhaust pipe is supposed to have a flex section. The flange patterns are different for 190D vs 300D verisons. The 190D version has been NLA for years. So what exactly did they do with it? A poorly sealed front pipe would certainly explain the noise.

Come to think of it, what are you using for the rest of the exhaust? The 190Dt used a 55mm system, 190D 48mm and 190E 50mm.

I know the front exhaust is a flex section and it’s different then the one on a w124 300D i had a W124 91 parts car complete and a friend of my had a W201 87 190D turbo for parts he used the engine but sold me and exchanged parts like the radiator steering column and the complete exhaust system but the pipe that goes after the flex to the middle of the car was in bad condition.

After doing a search I found out that the 91 602 turbo engine the actuator works with vacuum from the EDS and I don’t have it in my car so (I thought it was like the 603) I’m going to go to a pressure operated actuator like the one on the 603 engine and following gsxr method
